As a health resort Sirmione is famous for its sulphur springs. In the 19th century a pipeline was constructed so the thermal water from these springs can directly be transported from the lake to Sirmione. A tourist attraction can be found at the end of the peninsula, the ruins of one of the biggest roman villas, the Grotto of Catullus. The building itself has a measure of 167 x 105 m. Beside the Spas there is a great variety of hotels of all classes, apartments and camping sites in Sirmione. |
