Weather

At Lake Garda the climate is mild and Mediterranean. In summer the average temperature is 24 to 28 °C. During the other months there is not much rain and the temperature is between 16 and 18 °C.

Beaches

Most of the beaches at Lake Garda are public. The minority of the beaches at Lake Garda are sand beaches and the majority are pebble beaches. Therefore it is recommendable to wear shoes to avoid injuries.

Language

Lake Garda is situated in Italy so the people speak Italian. But all over the place people speak English and German. There are even some people who speak French.

The opening hours of banks are from Monday to Friday from about 9:00 a.m. – 01:30 p.m. and again from about 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.. The opening hours can differ from bank to bank.

The opening hours can differ from shop to shop but in general they are open from 09:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 03:00 p.m. – 07:00 p.m... In some tourist regions the shops are open until 10:00 p.m.

Food

At Lake Garda you can enjoy local and international food in many hotels, restaurants and trattorias. Local specialties are freshwater fishes, locale wine und of course the famous olive oil of Lake Garda. Certainly you can find the traditionally baked pizza.

Health

Pharmacies can be found in every larger town. Normally the opening hours are from 9.00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 03:00 p.m. – 07:00 p.m. but in the local newspaper you can also find the pharmacy which is on duty.

Like in every tourist region memory cards are more expensive than at home. So do not forget to take enough memory. Lake Garda is a fantastic place to take pictures especially during the morning hours when there is mist over the lake or after a rain shower. In January, February and October there are the best light conditions to take pictures for post cards.
