Valtenesi

The Valtenesi is located at the south western shore of Lake Garda between the beautiful villages Salò and Desenzano del Garda. The acreage of the region is about 600 hectares large and is characterized by hills, olive groves and wine yards.

The landscapes changes from steep mountains to green rolling hills which slope smooth to Lake Garda. The Valtenesi was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. The glaciers transported scree and large stones southbound. The soil of the moraines is fertile and due to the proximity to Lake Garda the temperatures do not fluctuate much. And there are no droughts. Best conditions for wine-growing. The Valtenesi is famous for the wines Garda Classico Chiaretto and the Garda Classico Groppello.

The Valtenesi offers a beautiful landscape, fresh air and many possibilities to do sports. For example hiking, mountain bike tours, horse riding and much more. From the many hiking trails and small country roads the visitor has an amazing view on the beautiful landscape of the Valtenesi. The numerous sights like the castle ruin on the Rocca di Manerba, the castle of Padenghe sul Garda or the castle in Moniga del Garda. Almost every small village has a church that can be visited and that has a story to tell. The campsites, hotels and holiday apartments in the towns in the Valtenesi are numerous.
